Report on Eisteddfod/Aathegither UMass Dartmouth folk festival Oct. 19-21

About 200 people made up the audience/performers for this almost spontaneous folk happening/party/ concert/jam session. These dividing lines got pretty thin sometimes -- I sat down in the courtyard to fiddle a few tunes with old banjo friend Ralph Bodington, and pretty soon the ring of players with and around us included Bennett and Lorraine Hammond, Mike Holmes, Tom Gibney, Patrick Sky, Martin Grosswendt, Neil MacMillan and a dozen other folks who were coming from or going to their scheduled stage time.

At the Friday Nite Ceilidh, performers were: Tony Saletan, Matt McConeghy and Ralph Bodington, Suzanne Mrozak, Barbara Carns with Rob Carns, Tony Medeiros and friends, Glen Pryor, Walter Scott and Richard Hughes, Paul Geremia, David Jones,

while late arrivals included Dwayne Thorpe, Rick Lee, Bennett and Lorraine Hammond, Mike Holmes, Joan Aiken, Lou Killen, Neal MacMillan and Joanie Bronfman, Jerry Rasmussem, parts of the groups Spaelmenninir and Rare Air, Maggie Pierce and many other long-time supporters of traditional music.

At Saturday's concert most of those folks were back again, with the wonderful high energy pipe and flute of Patrick O'Gorman, cowboy singing and fiddling from Skip Gorman and Mary Burdett, Tom Lewis..etc., etc. Once more, Howard Glasser has given us all a chance to enjoy each others music and company. Thanks, Howard!
