Ed Hetzler's Tune Page is a great resource-- scores of tunes played electronically, but very good arrangements and sound.. Another set of midi tunes is at the Sheffield Fiddle Club site. And another interesting resource is Fiddle Tunes from the American Revolution which has older tunes played slowly and deliberately to aid in learning. Another source is the Henry Reed Collection (audio and transcripts at the Library of Congress). If you want to find and play many more tunes and are willing to invest a little time, check out the ABC system... ABCs The ABC notation was originally a trick for sending fiddle tunes and songs over email. But it has mutated and developed -- no longer just a quick shorthand method for notating tunes, the ABCs can be computer converted directly to standard notation, or to sound output. American Memory is a very interesting collection of digital of photos and sound files from the Library of Congress. Just search for "fiddle". The sound files are huge(5-6Mb) so be careful before you download as you may be in for a long wait. The photos are of reasonable size however.
