Jan 10  Jeff reports that  there were almost as many in the audience as there were players. Anyway it was a fun jam where we played about 10 or 15 tunes with, 3 or 4 guitars (Harry.Gerhart, and two new players), 2 banjos (Michelle and Susan), for the most part 1 fiddle, Andy, (Ben & Sam were there for a short time but couldn't stay) and 1 mandolin. Some of tunes were; Old Joe Clark, Cluck Old Hen, Red Haired Boy, Soldiers Joy, Whiskey Before Breakfast, Sandy Boy, Frosty Morning, Saint Anne's Reel, Over The Waterfall, Eighth Of January, and Shortnin' Bread which Andy proceeded to turn into a rollicking good time. We played upstairs in the gallery until about 9:30.  Jeff, Thanks for the report! Matt

We spent some time learning new tunes including Midnight on the Water, Waiting for the Federals,  Bill Cheatem, and some other tunes we rarely play such as Gaspee Reel, La Bastringue, Old French, and some old favorites such as St Anne's Reel, Soldier's Joy, Cripple Creek, Old Joe Clark, Angelina Baker, Over the Waterfall, Redhaired Boy, Liberty,  Bonaparte's retreat, Road to Boston, Boys of Blue Hill, etc. See you Thanksgiving eve!

October 25 Kitty, Matt, Bob, Vinny, Colin, and Win played fiddle with Harry, Grace, Gerhardt, Susan, Josh and other friends on guitar, mandolin and banjo. Familiar tunes included Over the Waterfall, St Anne's Reel, Johnny Gone for a Soldier, Old Joe Clark, Frosty Morning, Liberty, Rights of Man, Salt River, Soldier's Joy and others. See you 2nd wednesday in November... Nov 8

October 11 Very good jam. Not a big crowd but lots of illicit instrument swapping! Roughly, five fiddles, five banjos, four or five guitars, two or three mandos... whatever... Michelle, Win, John, Matt, Bob, Harry, Andy, Kitty, Susan (she had a pretty good time), Mark R., Jeff, and other friends played fewer tunes longer, including Shortnin Bread, Old French, June Apple, Frosty Morning, Soldier's Joy, St Anne's Reel, Cripple Creek, Over the Waterfall, Johnny's Gone for a Soldier, Angelina Baker, Sandy Boy, and some new French-Canadian tunes...

Sept 26 In the Gallery upstairs at AS220. Although we were missing some of our regulars this week, we welcomed some new friends. Sixteen folks swapped around at least seven fiddles, several guitars, mandolins, banjos and whatnot... Some tunes we seldom play, including Sail Away Ladies, West Fork Girls, and others more familiar.  More of a teaching session this week as we spent a lot of time on a few tunes. Michelle gave some lessons on old timey bowing, and she,  Kitty and Josh also taught some new tunes. A lively session which went on until 10pm.

Sept 12, 2000 a good session at AS220. Kitty, Jim, Susan, Matt, Bud, Ben and Sam, Andy, Bob, Mark, Josh, Skip, Gerhardt, Harry and other friends played 2 guitars, two mandolins, a banjo and a bunch of fiddles for several new tunes and a lot of old favorites, including Hurlock's, Johnny Gone for  Soldier, Miss McLeod's Reel, Soldier's Joy, Rakes of Mallow, Liberty, St Annes,   Boys of Blue Hill, Shortnin Bread, Old Joe Clark, Over the Waterfall, Angelina Baker, June Apple, Eighth of January, Shady Grove, Frosty Morning, Redhaired Boy, Rights of Man, Staten Island,  Whiskey Before Breakfast, Snake River and other traditional favorites.

August 23, 2000 at AS220 a really good but not exactly slow session as folks returned from summer wanderings. Five fiddles, five guitars, three mandolins, two banjos, and flute with Kitty, Matt, Bud, Mike, Glenn, Susan, Josh, Mark, John, Paul, Scott, Winny, Bert, Harry, Gerhardt, and other friends. Tunes included Soldier's Joy, Shortnin Bread, St Anne's Reel, Liberty, Boys of Blue Hill, Eighth of January,  Arkansas Traveller, Morpeth Rant, Whiskey Before Breakfast,  Old Joe Clark, Over the Waterfall, Angelina Baker, Redhaired Boy, Frosty Morning, Ragtime Annie, Mississippi Sawyer,  Cripple Creek, Johnny Gone for a Soldier, Staten Island Hornpipe, Cluck Old Hen, Tennessee Waltz, Hurlock's, and others :-

August 2 and  16, 2000  Intermediate Session at Hazel Dene in Warren. Fiddle, banjo, harmonica and guitar played some unaccustomed tunes working through the tune list: Waterbound, Off to California, Turkey in the Straw, Boys of Blue Hill, Smash the Window/Off She Goes/Blarney Pilgrim, Brighton Camp and Garryowen, Southern Aristocracy, as well as old favorites. We look forward to seeing old friends again as AS220 starts up, and perhaps we will have an alternate intermediate session continuing through the winter?

July 19 Second summer session at Hazel Dene (thanks Karen!) in Warren was attended by four fiddles, two guitars, two mandos, one banjo, two harmonicas. We played lots of old favorites and  some tunes we haven't done before, including Scotland the Brave, Turkey in the Straw, Swinging on a Gate, Faded Love, and some Canadian tunes Ben brought home from a fiddle camp. See you next time and don't forget the mosquito spray!!!!

July 5  Because AS220 is closed this month, we are meeting July 5 and 17 at Hazel Dene in Warren (see directions at top of page). Tonight five fiddles, flute, mandolin and two guitars had a good session led by Bud Savoie, hosted by Karen, the owner of "Hazel Dene" gift shop/coffee shop. We tried some new tunes including Country Waltz, Ashokan Farewell, Growlin Old Man and others. It was nice.  See you there in  two weeks.

June 28  five fiddles, three mandos, three guitars and flute played lots of familiar tunes and tried some new tunes including: Country Waltz, St Anne's Reel, Growling Old Man and Woman, Bonaparte's Retreat...

June 14 six good fiddles, flute, and guitars tried some new tunes... good time.

May 24  about 7 fiddles, 3 mandolins, one banjo, and all of a sudden, about eight guitars! Great! Kitty, Susan, Matt, Michelle, Bob, Bud, J., Jeff, and other friends played Shady Grove, Cripple Creek, Angelina Baker, Over the Waterfall, Soldier's Joy, Arkansas Traveler, Liberty, Boys of Blue Hill, Eighth of January, St Anne's Reel, Whisky Before Breakfast, Rickett's Hornpipe, Frosty Morning, and other favorites.

May 10, 2000   good jam again. About 15 fiddlers and friends (Michelle, Susan, Bob, Ben and Sam, Kitty, Bud, Harry, Gerhardt, Jeff and others) met in the gallery room of AS220 and played a variety of old favorites along with some new introductions.
