Rehoboth "Sunday Night" Jammers

Playing Old Time Dance Music for fun!

Mapquest: Goff Hall (Blanding Library) 124 State Rd Rehoboth MA USA

at Goff Memorial Hall of Blanding Library

Rehoboth, Massachusetts USA

Schedule

A (mostly) weekly Sunday night jam session of traditional music, free and open to the public. Anyone who plays an instrument and would like to sit in with a group of musicians playing for fun is welcome.

For information please email: bobolinkelliott (at) yahoo.com or call Bob at 508-669-5656.

The Rehoboth jam has a round-the-circle format of players choosing tunes, with repertory from both traditional Old Time, French-Canadian, Celtic or International Roots music. A lot of tunes are chosen from the Portland Collection of Contradance tunes, the Bill Mathieson Waltz books, or versions downloaded from John Chambers massive tune collection of public domain music at MIT(links below). Some players do not use written music. The repertory varies quite a lot from week to week depending on who comes to play....

Instruments which would probably feel most comfortable are fiddle, guitar, mandolin, banjo, accordion, piano, recorder/whistle/flute... the sessions are open to people of all ages and any level of ability. Not a slow jam or a music lesson, but not all at breakneck speed, either. Reels are often played at a rather slow 90 -100, with lots of moderate waltzes.
