HUM3060, SCI3050, SOC3060 - Science and Civilization - Day 2

Part 1. Before we knew what, we knew how...

Day Two: Technology vs. science: Knowledge is not 'Science.'

The Greeks borrowed many technologies from their neighbors and trading partners. And the flowering of Greek civilizations in the period from about 600 B.C.E. to about 200 B.C.E is still one of the dramatic points of all human history. But why did the Greek vision of knowledge fail. They had intelligence and curiosity, but something was missing... nor did it exist in those who succeeded them... nor in the Celts and Chinese who were their contemporaries.
